Achieving ISO 45001

ISO 45001 is the latest Standard for occupational health & safety. Businesses or organisations certified to this Standard demonstrate that they have the processes in place to identify, mitigate or remove risk or hazards. It also requires businesses to regularly review their processes to identify weaknesses and act upon them, keeping their staff safe and their reputation strong.

How to get ISO 45001

With most of the processes already in place to meet the requirements of the Standard, you will simply need to pass a compliance audit to receive the certification.

A QMS International auditor will assess your health & safety processes, comparing them against the ISO 45001 Standard’s requirements. If these requirements are met, QMS International will be able to issue your new accredited certification.

To help you increase your chances of passing the audit first time, you will need to have carried out at least one internal audit and management review. You should already be familiar with these as they will be a requirement for your other ISO.

During your next meetings, make sure you include some health & safety statistics, such as accidents, incidents or RIDDOR (Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations), in order to meet the ISO 45001 requirements.
