Common Questions

About ISO 14001

ISO 14001 is the international Standard for environmental management Systems, published by the International Organisation for Standardisation. It sets out what an organisation needs to do to manage its environmental impacts, meet its legal obligations and demonstrate ongoing improvement. The current version is ISO 14001:2026.

ISO 14001 is not required by law, but for many businesses it’s effectively required in practice. It appears regularly in public sector pre-qualification questionnaires, corporate supply chain requirements and planning conditions.

Most businesses achieve certification within three months. The timeline depends on the size and complexity of your scope and how much of a system you already have in place. We’ll give you a realistic estimate right at the start so you can plan around it.

Your price is based on the number of employees, sites and the scope of environmental activities included. We provide fixed-price quotes with no hidden fees — what you’re quoted is what you pay. Use the fee calculator or call us for a same-day price.

ISO 14001 is useful for any organisation that wants to manage its environmental impact. It’s most commonly used by businesses in manufacturing, construction, logistics, facilities management, utilities and public sector supply chains — but we’ve helped businesses across almost every sector get certified.

ISO 14001:2026 is the current version of the environmental management system Standard. Compared with the 2015 edition, it places stronger emphasis on climate-related risks, lifecycle thinking, supply chain environmental accountability, and measurable environmental performance.
If you’re certified to ISO 14001:2015, you’ll need to transition to the 2026 version before the transition deadline. Get in touch and we’ll explain what’s involved.
