An integrated ISO 9001 and ISO 45001 management system

Unite your team with your systems and procedures through an integrated quality management system

ISO 9001 and ISO 45001 are uniquely constructed management system Standards designed with businesses in mind.

Uniform structures make them a perfect fit for cooperation while their simple language means that team members of all levels will know what they need to do.

As a result, it’s even easier for you to drive continual improvement across a range of critical areas – without unnecessary effort.

What is an Integrated Management System (IMS)?

An Integrated Management System is a set of pre-defined processes and procedures that help businesses achieve best practice when it comes to managing quality, their environmental impact, occupational health and safety, and more.

Combining two or more ISO management system Standards into one common system boosts the efficiency of your processes and makes them easier to manage. It also means there will be greater output through fewer processes, ensuring that your internal resources are always used in the best possible way.

Why integrate ISO 9001 & ISO 45001?

ISO 9001 and ISO 45001 are very compatible Standards for an integrated management system. They boast a common framework, known as the Annex SL Structure, which means they share their 10 clauses.

By combining these ISOs into a single documented and managed system, changes and improvements are easier to adopt and understand throughout your business, minimising any negative impacts further down the line.

  • Plan: Owners are clearly defined; leaders take responsibility and processes are documented and well communicated.

  • Do: Training needs are identified and met, while resources are effectively allocated during operation.

  • Check: Regular checks are carried out to inspect the system’s effectiveness, with risks and failings identified and documented.

  • Act: Beneficial improvements are rolled out through the single, integrated system and excellence is achieved through compliance best practice insights.

By reducing the time it takes to manage compliance across a range of areas and employing just one IMS manager, you can take control of excellence and enhance deliverability.

You will also gain control of your compliance 24/7 through our digital management system platform, Atlas ISO. This comes with the additional benefits of built-in document controls, digital templates and automated task management.

Integrating ISO 9001 with ISO 45001

The ISO for quality has plenty in common with the ISO for occupational health and safety when it comes to systems and structures. To achieve them you must show how you intend to improve, implement operations to measure and improve your management system, and both monitor and evaluate your business practices.

For more detail, see the table below.

Of course, you can opt for other combinations of ISOs. To find out more, visit our dedicated web pages on ISO 9001 and ISO 14001, and ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.
